Goddess is the powerful new incarnation of Sweden’s revered stoner/doom outfit Goatess.
After founding guitarist Niklas departed, the remaining members chose to step into a fresh chapter and rebrand as Goddess — a name that better captures the divine, hypnotic, and majestic spirit of their music. The soul of the band remains untouched: crushing, riff-heavy traditional doom with thick, fuzzy stoner grooves, soaring vocals, and a dark, psychedelic edge that pays homage to the greats while carving out their own heavy legacy.
Hailing from Stockholm, Goddess features seasoned musicians with a rich history in the Swedish underground (including members and alumni tied to acts like Crucifyre). Their sound builds on the foundation laid across Goatess’s three acclaimed albums — Goatess (2013), II: Purgatory Under New Management (2016), and Blood and Wine (2019) — delivering slow-burning, monolithic riffs, atmospheric weight, and that unmistakable Swedish doom swagger.
Now signed to Majestic Mountain Records, Goddess is preparing to release their debut album 'Ritual of the Cloven Hoof' ,under the new banner — a record that promises to enchant fans of Electric Wizard, Sleep, Saint Vitus, Count Raven, and classic Black Sabbath.
